過去(簡單)式 He walked to school yesterday.

過去進行式 過去的某個時間點正在發生的事情
I was walking in the rain last night.

現在式 強調例行公事或是常常發生的事情
He walks to school everyday.他每天走路上學

現在進行式 正在進行中的事情
I am walking in the rain now.
未來式 發生在未來的事情或是未來計劃要做
He will walk to school tomorrow.
I will travel European countries next year.
(這句道出未來的計畫--計畫明年要去歐洲國家旅遊)
未來進行式 I am going to walk in the rain next time.

以下兩句的差別
I am going to play the piano tomorrow.
I will play the piano tomorrow.
除了是未來進行式與未來式的差別之外, 第一句代表確定明天將會去彈鋼琴,
第二句雖也是明天去彈鋼琴但是有可能這計畫會取消或有變動
